This is a communal liturgy for women grieving abortion, pregnancy loss, and the many outcomes of pregnancy the Christian church has historically left unspoken. It's written to be led by a facilitator — clergy or lay — in a women's circle, small group, church gathering, or any community that wants to hold space for these experiences together. Participants name their losses aloud, receive one another without judgment, and move through lament toward blessing. It's rooted in the Christian tradition — drawing on scripture, the historic "Churching of Women" rite from the Book of Common Prayer, and the Hebrew understanding of compassion as "womb-love" — while its language is written to welcome women across a wide range of beliefs and backgrounds.
