About Us

Who We Are

We are pro-choice faith leaders committed to accompanying you with love, support, and compassion through your abortion experience.

As more and more people use abortion pills, we know that there will be times when people may not have the in-person support they deserve before, during, or after their abortions. That’s why we created this site, first and foremost – to accompany people on their abortion journey, no matter where they are in the process. We also know that many people who have abortions are people of faith, and it can be hard to find affirming and compassionate spiritual resources online in a sea of religious anti-abortion extremism. Our intention and hope is for this site to be a resting place, a sacred space of comfort and care for people on their abortion journeys.

What We Stand For

Our guiding values and principles

Dignity and Autonomy

We believe every person has the right, ability, and responsibility to make their own reproductive decisions, free from stigma and with unhindered access to the care, support, and resources they need to make those decisions.

Compassion

We believe that our call is to accompany people throughout their reproductive journeys and do so without judgment. We center the needs, emotions, and conscience of the individual person as they make decisions and process their experiences.

Whole Person

We believe in providing holistic, integrated care that honors and tends to the physical, emotional, mental, relational, spiritual, and other needs of people on their reproductive journeys.

About Our Organizations

This is a project of Faith in Women and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

About Faith in Women

Faith in Women is a network of clergy and people of faith in Mississippi who support and affirm abortion as a moral, spiritual, and personal decision. We may not be the loudest faith voice in the state, but we’re there, working diligently and faithfully alongside our partners in the fight for reproductive freedom for Mississippians. We live all over the state and belong to a variety of faith traditions, including many Christian denominations like United Methodist, Cooperative Baptist, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and Missionary Baptist, as well as Reform Judaism.

About the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice

The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) is a broad-based, national, interfaith movement that brings the moral force of religion to protect and advance reproductive health, choice, rights and justice through education, prophetic witness, pastoral presence and advocacy. RCRC values and promotes religious liberty which upholds the human and constitutional rights of all people to exercise their conscience to make their own reproductive health decisions without shame and stigma. RCRC challenges systems of oppression and seeks to remove the multiple barriers that impede individuals, especially those in marginalized communities, in accessing comprehensive reproductive health care with respect and dignity.

Abortions Welcome Design Process

Faith in Women and RCRC came together in 2020 to begin sketching out the idea for the website. Along the way, we’ve been supported and guided by colleagues and friends from various backgrounds and faith traditions. While our team members who led the creation of this site have not personally experienced abortion, we did seek the wisdom and input of people who have. We followed their guidance on what kind of spiritual support they wish they would have had during their own abortions.

Our hope is for everyone to feel welcomed and included here, yet we know that because of the various privileges we hold as well as the limitations of our own perspectives and experiences, there will be gaps in what is offered. Our intention is for this site to evolve and expand over time.

One other thing – websites don’t just happen on their own. The technical hands and creative hearts behind this site belong to the talented and dedicated Citizen Tech Collective and Morgan Linnett Graphic Design.
